Understanding Goal Health
Understanding goal health in the Console and email alerts
To better help users monitor goals and catch possible implementation issues, goal health reporting has been added to the Console.
Email AlertsIf you would like to receive a daily email listing all your user's currently Unhealthy goals, reach out to your support team to get your email address added.
Goal Types
- SDK Events: When creating an SDK Property, the user is asked to define a whitelist. If a whitelist is defined, only whitelisted events will be returned as goals. If no whitelist is defined, all distinct events found in the metrics stream will be returned as goals.
- Pixels: Pixels are created as part of Web Property configuration. All pixels created via the console are returned as goals.
Goal Health Terms
- Active Study: To determine if a Study is active, we extend the start and end dates using the configured attribution window. Delivered studies are not considered active.
- Start Date: Study start date minus the attribution window.
- End Date: Study end date plus the attribution window.
- Last Processed Date: The last processed date is the most recent date for which data has been processed, typically the previous day.
Goal States
- Healthy Goals: Goals that are actively receiving event data as of the last processed date and are associated with an active study.
- Warning Goals: Goals not actively receiving event data as of the last processed date and are not associated with an active study.
- Unhealthy Goals: Goals not actively receiving event data as of the last processed date and are associated with an active study.
Viewing Goal Health and Metrics in the Console
Goal health and the corresponding metrics are surfaced in multiple ways within the console.
- All Goals Table: A list of all goals available to the user is available on the Properties page. The current health of each listed goal will be shown in the Health column. The goals shown in this table can be filtered by any of the goal health states.
- Property Specific Table: A Property scoped goal table is shown on individual Property view pages. Similar to the above all goals table but scoped to that specific property.
- Goal Health Chart: A goal health metrics chart is available on the Property view page, showing all goals with events during the selected time range. The default time range is 30 days, but the user can select any custom date range. The user can also toggle between displaying the total event count or the distinct devices count within the chart.
